FITCHBURG — A 21-year-old Fitchburg woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash off Interstate 290 in Worcester about 7 a.m. Sunday, authorities say.

There were two passengers in the car, including a 25-year-old Leominster woman who suffered minor injuries, and a 23-year-old Worcester woman who was uninjured, according to a state police press release.

Police have not released the names of any of the women involved in the wreck.

The Fitchburg woman was traveling east on Interstate 290 when, for reasons still under investigation, her 2005 Kia Spectre left the road and crashed, police said.

The wreck remains under investigation by troopers assigned to State Police in Holden with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Crime Scene Services Section.
