FITCHBURG — The Department of Public Works advises residents of the following work that will be done, weather permitting, this week.

The water meter upgrade project is currently on hold until further notice due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Street sweeping

Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m., spot sweeping citywide. Residents are asked to sweep sidewalks in front of their properties. Sand should be placed in windrows and not in piles so the equipment can successfully remove it.

Road work

Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Minor traffic impacts:

• Pothole repairs in all wards. Use SeeClickFix.com or call 978-829-1900 to report a pothole.

• Sidewalk construction on Franklin Road

• Paving on sections of North Street

• Crosswalk painting on Main Street

• Sewer cleaning and video inspection of various locations Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Expect localized detours and lane shifts.

• Sewer cleaning on Airport Road near Benson Street and Elm Street near Hartwell Street,  Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Expect loud truck noise and local road closures.

• Trench restoration/paving at various locations

• Gas main work by Unitil/NEUCO. Expect delays and detours.

• Franklin Road from Shea Street to Depot Street

• Depot Street from Hannigan Court to Westminster Street

• Clarendon Street from Franklin Road to 474 Clarendon St.

• Tree work by Unitil/Asplundh on Oak Hill Road, Wednesday–Friday.

Hydrants

• Inspection, maintenance and painting of hydrants citywide.
