Man Arrested for Dishonoring National Anthem at Khanapara, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Gunajeet Sharma, 53, from Barpeta tried to express his grievance against the National Anthem by taking poison while the Independence Day celebrations were being observed at Khanapara field on Thursday. Sharma took the extreme step after protesting against Assam’s name not being mentioned in the National Anthem. Basistha police registered a case (2463/19 U/S 294 (a) IPC, R/W Sec 3 of Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act, 1971) in this regard at Dispur police station against Sharma.
