13, 283 Voters In Arunachal Pradesh Opt For ‘None of The Above’ (NOTA)

Itanagar: Over thirteen thousand voters in Arunachal Pradesh opted for the ‘none of the above’ (NOTA) option in the Lok Sabha as well as Assembly elections, counting of which was conducted on Thursday.

An estimated 13, 283 voters this year opted to push the ‘none of the above’ button in the state, even as counting for four assembly constituencies are still going on.

It is the highest number of ‘none of the above’ votes polled in the state in comparison to the previous elections.

During the 2014 assembly and Parliamentary elections in the state, an estimated 4948 voters opted for the NOTA option which constitute over one percent of the votes polled.

Namsai assembly constituency recorded 406 NOTA options while prestigious Itanagar constituency came second where 356 voters pushed the NOTA option during 2014.

This year, NOTA even outperformed some of the candidates, getting more votes across the state than them.

The maximum number of voters who opted for ‘none of the above’ this year were in Namsai constituency (581), followed by Chowkham constituency with 337 ‘none of the above’ votes.

The lowest number of ‘none of the above’ votes were recorded at Tali constituency in Kra Daadi district at 9, according to available data of the Election Commission of India.
