Arunachal CM Pema Khandu lauds Army role in State

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday appreciated the Army for their contribution in building civil-army friendship in the State.

Declaring open the three-day Sadbhavna Diwas – a celebration of civil army friendship at Jang in Tawang district of the State, Khandu highlighted on the importance of civilian-army cooperation for progress and prosperity.

The Chief Minister gave away letter of appreciation to local army commanders and soldiers for their contribution in building civil army friendship, an official release informed here.

Khandu on the occasion also launched the ‘Arunachal Rising’ campaign and gave away commendation certificates and cash award to best ASHA and Angadwadi workers.

He also distributed radio sets to 50 Angandwadi workers of the Jang sub-division and distributed land compensation to beneficiaries from Khet village who allow land for the Army establishment in the district.

Commander of 40 Mountain Brigade, Brigadier Rajesh Sethi delivered the keynote address of the Sadbhavna Diwas.

Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, who was present on the occasion, later flagged off an expedition team of students organised by the Indian Army.

MLAs Tsering Tashi (Tawang), Jambey Tashi (Lumla) and Phurpa Tsering (Dirang) along with army brigade commanders attended the function, the release added.
