IED Blast near LoC in Jammu & Kashmir kills one Major Rank official: Reports

Guwahati: At a time when the entire nation is moaning the losses of the 49 CRPF jawans in the Pulwama terror attack on Thursday, there are reports surfacing in the media that an Army official died while defusing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.

The blast took place in Laam area of Rajouri’s Nowshera sector.

Reportedly, the explosive had been planted by intruders from Pakistan about 1.5 kilometers inside the Line of Control (LoC).

Today's incident comes just 48 hours after 49 CRPF jawans who were killed in the worst terror attack on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per sources, the army officer was a Major-rank official and the incident was reported at around 3 pm in the evening.

A section of media had also quoted Lt Col Anand stating that during the explosion another soldier received severe injuries during the IED explosion.

Both the Army officer and soldier were on patrolling duty, the report claims further.

It may be mentioned that the improvised explosive device appears to have been planted recently by elements from across the Line of Control.
