Importance of Yoga Highlighted In Bureau of Outreach and Communication Event, Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC), Regional Office, Meghalaya and Tripura, Region and the Field Outreach Bureau, Nongstoin, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, jointly organized a day-long special outreach programme on International Day of Yoga at BK Bajoria School, Shillong on Friday.

The main objective of this workshop is to create awareness on the importance of yoga in our daily lives.

BP Bajoria, Chairman, BK Bajoria School, as the chief guest, appreciated the initiative of the Bureau of Outreach and Communication for organizing such a programme.

He emphasized that yoga is a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body.

OL Marbaniang, consultant, Highland Post, as guest of honour, said that yoga is one of the healthiest practice people can ever make. He also added that it positively changes our lifestyle and increases the level of well-being.

Dr Engam Pame, Director, Bureau Of Outreach and Communication (BOC), Regional Office, Shillong, speaking on the occasion says that the success of governments programmes largely depend on people's participation. He emphasized that realizing the magnitude of the need to create awareness among general population of this country on the importance of practising yoga, BOC will be giving consistent efforts to strengthen messaging, communication and to bring about desired behavioural change.

Vandana Gupta, Principal of BK Bajoria School, Shillong proposed the vote of thanks on the occasion. The function was also attended by representatives from All India Radio, Doordarshan Kendra, PIB, teachers and students.
