Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy Chairs Economic Census Meeting

KOHIMA: A meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) for the 7th economic census was held at the conference room of the Chief Secretary on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, who is also the Chairman, SLCC. The meeting discussed matters concerning the payment of honorarium to the supervisors and enumerators and the logistic support on arrangement of manpower for implementation on the 7th Economic Census.

At the outset, the Chief Secretary pointed out that the economic census is very important as through this, GST is calculated. He asked the field officers not to take it as a routine thing but to give a true picture after enumeration is done and appealed to the field officers to have constant checks and to work out a mechanism to monitor every household.

Commissioner & Secretary, Information Technology, KD Vizo, while highlighting the conduct of the 7th Economic Census said that the census is conducted on an all-India basis covering all the States and UTs in the country. The Economic Census is known to be one of the most complex and massive administrative exercises in which all establishments “whether households or non-households, big or small, are enumerated.

The Economic Census provide up-to-date information on operational and other characteristics, – number of establishments; number of persons employed; source of finance; type of ownership, religion code and social group of propriety/establishments, according to their industrial activity including their distribution at all-India, State, district, village/ward levels for comprehensive analysis of the structure of the economy, stated a DIPR release.
