Raj Bhavan, Dispur greet on the occasion of Durga Puja

Guwahati, Oct 15: State’s Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi greeted the people of Assam on the occasion of Durga Puja.

In a message, the Governor said, “Durga, the quintessential daughter who comes to her parental abode after a year, leaving her husband and domestic rigmarole back in the mountains of Kailash creates lots of excitement here on earth. I believe the celebrations of Durga Puja festival besides adding sanctity, also contributes to the strengthening of universal brotherhood as people cutting across caste, creed and community come out to embrace Goddess Durga”.

State’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also conveyed his Durga Puja wishes to the people of Assam.

In a message, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “On the festive occasion of Durga Puja, I extend my best wishes and greetings to the people of Assam”. He also said that Durga Puja is celebrated to rejoice the victory of good over evil. May the festival of Durga Puja give us an opportunity to celebrate our strong unity as a nation and work to solidify our bond of friendship and camaraderie.

Sonowal also said Durga Puja is not only a religious festival, it is a festival of compassion, love and affection and mutual and peaceful co-existence.

Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary while extending his heartiest greetings to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja said, ‘Goddess Durga symbolises energy and empowerment.

The festival symbolises the victory of good over evil and guides us to follow the path of righteousness.’ The Minister prayed that may Ma Durga shower her blessings on the people with health and happiness.

Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, APCC President Ripun Bora and former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also extended their best wishes to the people of the State.
