Arunachal Pradesh Set to Boost Health Sector: Minister Alo Libang

Itanagar: Thirty fiver percent of Health and Family Welfare department’s budget will be earmarked for health & wellness centers (H&WCs) and AYUSH as directed by Central Government to boost health sector, Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Alo Libang informed here on Friday.

Libang informed that he has sought a report from Health department director on status of five zonal hospitals located at Bomdila, Ziro, Aalo, Tezu and Khonsa; district hospitals; primary health centers (PHCs), community health centers (CHCs) and sub-health centers for a serious review soon to improve their service delivery system on need-basis.

“Those which are not necessary will be closed down while no new health centre will be opened as the State Government intends to undertake massive reforms priority attached to health sector,” Alo Libang said.

The minister added that all PHCs and sub-centers have been converted into H&WCs in the State.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi through remote control from IG Park here, had inaugurated 50 H&WCs and Ayushman Bharat scheme on February 9, this year to provide medical care to the poor and needy especially pregnant women.

Interestingly, Libang has been making surprise visit to health centers during his tour within the state since assuming charge of the department in 2018.
