Root out Insurgency from Eastern Districts: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU)

Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has reiterated its demand for rooting out insurgency problem from Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of the State.

Lauding the security forces on achieving a major breakthrough into the killing of Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others by arresting an aide of a top NSCN (IM) leader who is believed to be involved in the massacre, said that it continued to stand by its demand for expulsion of all insurgent groups from the eastern Arunachal districts.

The area commander of NSCN (IM)’s Longding-Charaideo-Mon region, self-styled major Anok Wangsa, the deputy of self-styled major general Absolom Tangkhul of the outfit who is believed to be involved in the killing of MLA Aboh, was nabbed from Tizit area on Assam-Nagaland border during a joint operation by the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Assam Police on July 14 last.

Aboh along with ten others were killed on May 21 this year when the vehicles they were traveling were intercepted by the rebels near Bogapani village in Tirap district and opened fire killing them on the spot.

Meanwhile, the apex students’ body has expressed its appreciation to the Member of Parliament Tapir Gao for vociferously raising the ‘Chinese stapled visa issue’ on the floor of the Parliament.

The AAPSU opined that the irksome issue of stapled visa taken up by the MP on Thursday asking the Central Government to resolve the issue which creates a situation of making the people of the state as “second-grade” citizens in the country was appreciable one.

“The ‘stapled visa’ has always been a matter of great concern which the union has been raising through different mediums since long. However, the matter has not received any attention till date,” the AAPSU lamented.

The AAPSU had, on different occasions in the past, submitted memorandums to the President of India, Home Minister and other central ministers and state government demanding a logical conclusion on the matter. The AAPSU urged other representatives from the state in both the houses of the Parliament to raise the issues of the state collective for the greater interest of the indigenous people.
