Mortal Remains of Archbishop Jala to Arrive in Meghalaya on October 20

SHILLONG: The mortal remains of Archbishop Rev Dominic Jala will arrive in Meghalaya on October 20, Church authorities on Friday informed.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday (October 23) at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christian, Laitumkhrah, Shillong at 1 pm. According to a statement issued by the Archbishop’s House, the mortal remains of Archbishop Jala will arrive at Guwahati Airport on Sunday, October 20 at 2:45 pm. The statement also informed that on the way to Shillong, the mortal remains will be taken to Guwahati Provincial House, Byrnihat Parish, Nongpoh Parish, Umsning Parish and Mawlai Parish. “The mortal remains will be kept in his parental home, Mawlai Phudmuri for the night,” the statement from the Archbishop’s House said.

The statement also added that from October 21, till the funeral, the mortal remains will be kept in the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christian for the faithful to pay their homage.

Meanwhile, Protem Chancellor from the Archbishop’s House, Fr Jimmy Marngar, informed that on the morning of October 21, from the ancestral home of the Archbishop, his mortal remains will be taken to, Nazareth Hospital for dressing before keeping it in Cathedral of Mary Help of Christian for the faithful to pay their homage.
