Release Funds Via Direct Bank Transfer: Dispur

GUWAHATI: With the flood situation in the State gradually limping back to normalcy, the State Revenue and Disaster Management Department has instructed the Deputy Commissioners and the Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil) to release relief fund of Rs 3,800 for families affected in floods strictly following the guidelines mentioned in the revised notification on State disaster response fund dated May 2, 2015.

According to this notification, each family should be given Rs 1,800 for loss of clothing; and another amount of Rs 2,000 for loss of utensils or household goods. The aggregate amount of Rs 3,800 is meant for ‘Clothing and utensils/household goods for families whose houses have been washed away/fully damaged/severely inundated for more than two days due to a natural calamity’.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had also directed the DCs and SDOs (C) to “liberally consider” the cases of the flood-affected people, and release the funds.

The amount is credited in the beneficiary’s account through the process of DBT (Direct Bank Transfer). It is released under Gratuitous Relief (GR). According to the latest data, the government has released Rs 74.54 crore for GR.

According to official sources, 92 persons lost lives in floods affecting a population of 73,04,673 across the State till Tuesday.
