Your New Mexico Government

Episode 1: Matt Grubs of NMPBS Previews the 30-day Session

The legislative session is almost underway—30 days to pass measures and laws that affect everyone in New Mexico. What's being considered? Who's behind these bills? How will they make an impact on your life? Rest assured, the project: Your New Mexico Government has those answers. This daily podcast is part of a statewide news collaboration designed to keep you informed through interviews with reporters from around the state. On this episode, New Mexico PBS Producer Matt Grubs offers a preview of the big topics coming through this session: the budget, of course, a red-flag law, education, recreational marijuana and, always, good government and transparency.

This podcast is a journalistic endeavor, covering the New Mexico government. Our goal is to hold elected officials accountable, increase awareness and make the inner workings of state government more accessible to all New Mexicans.

(Your New Mexico Government is a collaboration between New Mexico PBS, KUNM radio and the Santa Fe Reporter. Funding for the project comes from the Thornburg Foundation and the New Mexico Local Journalism Fund.)
