The chairman of Shetland Charitable Trust has announced he will stand down from his post in May.
Bobby Hunter, the Lord Lieutenant of Shetland, had been in the top job at the trust for around seven years.
His successor will be appointed in June.
The trust – set up to distribute money from the oil industry to local causes – has paid out £300 million to charities, organisations and individuals.

Bobby will have been congratulated by some for ensuring Shetland’s charitable funds remain available for an industrially led approach to development in Shetland. Another approach view’s giving the people of Shetland a say over the use of their charitable funds as a development goal in itself.
Being without a chair until June suggests Shetland’s Charitable Trust may be incapable of taking or overturning any substantial decisions until later in the summer at the earliest. Time will tell whether that was a good or a bad thing.
