The British Ironwork Centre presents £250 to volunteers

The Crucial Crew will mark their 25th Anniversary with an event at the British Ironwork Centre.

Past and present volunteers, former pupils and representatives of organisations that get involved in the initiative will be invited to share memories, stories and skills learnt throughout the past quarter of a century.

Established in 1994 as a way to help educate children in the Oswestry and Shrewsbury area about safety the Crucial Crew organises a yearly event which sees hundreds of children spend a day visiting specially set up scenarios.

Each June the two week event sees over 1500 children from 40-60 primary schools take part in a range of social awareness activities, safety training, and life skills presentations conducted by industry professionals and volunteers.

The Crucial Crew aim to teach these important life skills to children at their most impressionable age, usually focusing on children during their transition from primary to secondary school.

The event covers a range of crucial topics including drug awareness, internet abuse and cyber bullying and stranger danger, as well as road safety, first aid, and recycling, among many others.

Clive Knowles from the Ironwork Centre said: "The 25th anniversary celebration will be a fantastic chance for everyone to reunite and share the importance of Crucial Crew events with the general public."

"Crucial Crew has received great praise from children and adults alike for the invaluable information shared, which is why we have donated £250 towards event fees and costs."
