The Shropshire Way 80k will make a comeback with three new routes to make it more accessible.

Bookings are now open for the mass participation walk, which will be held over the weekend of April 6 and 7, 2019 with participants aiming to complete the 50-mile circuit in less than 24 hours.

Almost exclusively following the Shropshire Way on either the main route or subsidiary paths, the walk takes in the Shropshire hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with local produce on offer at checkpoints along the route.

The walk starts and finishes at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms and is one of the centre’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Participants will be treated to breakfast upon their return.

Cheering

As well as the main route, next year's event sees the addition of the 42K 'Mammathon', Tusker’s 10K and a 5K Fun Run, which aim to offer something for all abilities.

Jade Marriott-Lodge, marketing manager at the centre, said: “All of the routes have been very popular already and it has been lovely to see locals booking on to the routes and supporting our fundraiser.

"The event has a great atmosphere, from beginning to end and at the checkpoints along the route; everyone is cheering the participants on and willing them to do well.

"It is great to see so many people complete their personal challenges and we look forward to seeing this on a wider scale this year as people challenge themselves to do the individual routes. No matter what your walking experience, we have something for everyone."
