Consultation launched on development of Shropshire towns

A consultation has begun on the future development of Shropshire towns.

The Shropshire Local Plan Review outlines future development policies up until 2036, and members of the public can now have their say on the plans.

The review looks at towns all over the county, focusing on three main development points.

The document outlines a housing policy direction to improve the delivery of local housing needs and establishes development guidelines and development boundaries for Shrewsbury, principal and key centres and each proposed community hub.

It also sets out the preferred sites to deliver the preferred scale and distribution of housing and employment growth up until 2036.

Shropshire Councillor Tina Woodward, said: "I would like to make residents aware that the Preferred Sites consultation document is available to view both online and in paper form.

"I hope as many residents as possible will take the opportunity to respond to the consultation should they wish to do so."

The review can be found on Shropshire Council's website, and paper copies can be found at Shropshire libraries and the main Shropshire Council Offices in the main towns around the county.

The towns included in the document are Albrighton, Bishop's Castle, Bridgnorth, Broseley, Church Stretton, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Ellesmere, Highley, Ludlow, Market Drayton, Minsterley and Pontesbury, Much Wenlock, Oswestry, Shifnal Shrewsbury, Wem and Whitchurch.

Finishing on January 31, 2019, the public can reply via a questionnaire at shropshire.gov.uk/local-plan-consultation
