The Town boss leads his side out at Montgomery Waters Meadow for the first time in League One with promotion contenders Peterborough the visitors.

Former Wrexham boss Ricketts says that Town fans will see his side adopt a never-say-die attitude no matter the score.

He suggested that last week’s goal deep into added time at Burton, a consolation in Town’s 2-1 defeat, was a snapshot of the attitude he expects from his players, and hopes that is evident on home soil tomorrow.

“Football keeps evolving and the side will keep evolving,” said the Welshman. “All I can put emphasis on at the minute is that fans will go and see a team that’ll never stop working.

“A relentless team in pressing and keeping going. No matter the score – ideally we’re winning more than not – but we’ll keep working to get back in the game, working until the very end.

“We saw that last week where we did score a late goal, we never stopped trying to get back into the game.

“(We’ll be) An honest, hard-working team that never lack for effort.”

Salop, 17th in the table, boast the ninth-best home record in the division with five wins – and just two defeats – from 10 outings.

Ricketts has so far taken charge and been on watching brief at the Meadow for Checkatrade Trophy and Central League Cup fixtures.

And the new Shrewsbury chief is excited to sample Town’s home support for the first time.

“The support at Burton last week was excellent, so I’m really looking forward to that support again at home,” he added.

“And hopefully we can give them a performance to be proud of and with that comes the right result. The performance is all we can control.”
