Weather Forecast Aug 22: Moderate rains in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh with revival of Monsoon rains in Kerala

Central India, the Low-Pressure Area is over South-central Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh. Thus, we expect fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities over Madhya Pradesh. Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Guna, Ujjain, Satna and Damoh might see moderate rains. Whereas scattered rains will continue over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Southeast Rajasthan may also receive one or two good spells of rain. The weather of Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra will be almost dry. However, Konkan and Goa may receive light to moderate rain at few places. With this, Mumbai might receive one or two short spells of rains, but heavy rains are ruled out.

Down South, the off-shore Trough is extending from North Chhattisgarh to South Andhra Pradesh. A Trough is also persisting from Karnataka to Kerala, therefore, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Kerala and light to moderate rains can be seen over Coastal Karnataka, parts of Telangana, parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and some parts of interior Tamil Nadu.
Light rains are possible over interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema.

Bengaluru might see light to moderate rains with nearly dry weather in Chennai.

In the eastern parts of the country, moderate rains are possible over east and central Uttar Pradesh and parts of Odisha. Isolated light rains are possible over Jharkhand and West Bengal wherein Bihar will be almost dry. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim along with Northeast India may witness increased rain activities and light to moderate showers are possible at many places.

Up in the North, the western end of Monsoon Trough is near the foothills. Therefore, light to moderate rains are possible over Uttarakhand and parts of Northwest Uttar Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir along with Himachal Pradesh will be almost dry. Weather of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan will be dry, warm and humid.
