Weather Forecast July 23: Heavy rains continue to batter Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, alert sounded at many places

The Monsoon rains will continue to batter many parts of Kerala especially the northern and central region. These rains can be attributed to an off-shore Trough that is running from South Konkan and Goa to Kerala in association with the active Monsoon surge over the West coast. Therefore, moderate to heavy rains will continue over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka.
Parts of South Interior Karnataka may also receive good rains and thundershowers. Whereas, scattered rains can be seen over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema with light to moderate spells over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana.

Presently in Central India, A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over North Konkan and Goa and adjoining areas and a North-South Trough is extending from North Madhya Pradesh to Interior Karnataka across Maharashtra. Hence, moderate showers can be seen over Madhya Maharashtra with moderate to heavy spells over South Konkan and Goa. Along with this, light to moderate showers will be seen over North Konkan and Goa including Mumbai and parts of Gujarat region, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Southeast Rajasthan, and parts of Chhattisgarh.
Whereas, isolated rains can be seen over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Meanwhile in East India, a Cyclonic Circulation is over Bihar; hence rains will now increase over Bihar and foothills of East Uttar Pradesh which will be light to moderate in nature with one or two heavy spells in between.

Also, good rains are expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, and parts of Assam. Whereas, scattered rains will continue over rest Northeast India, and Jharkhand with isolated spells over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

Lastly up in the North, a Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers can be seen over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and few places of Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas, isolated thundery activity can be seen over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. On the contrary, West Rajasthan will be dry.
