Heat wave likely to make a comeback in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and parts of Rajasthan

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Dwarka, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Pendra, Sultanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Mukteshwar. The conditions currently do not look favourable for the further advancement of Southwest Monsoon 2019 over the Northwest Plains during the next 24 hours.

At present, a trough is extending from Punjab to the Low-Pressure Area in the Bay of Bengal. Thus, isolated activities might be a sight over Punjab, West Haryana with scattered rains over East Rajasthan. Mainly dry weather is anticipated in West Rajasthan, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh. There stands a chance that the heat wave condition might make a comeback. Thus, parts of North Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi might once again reel under heat wave conditions during the next 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours, the northeastern parts of Rajasthan witnessed light dust storm and thundershower activities. Places like Churu and Pilani witnessed these activities wherein Churu recorded 44.3°C which is three degrees above normal. Whereas, very hot conditions prevailed over the northwestern parts of Rajasthan.

At present, a drop in mercury has been observed in places of East Rajasthan. Places like Kota, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Barmer witnessed a drop due to the blowing of moderate southwesterlies over the region. Whereas, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi recorded a rise in temperature by three to five degrees in wake of dry and hot northwesterlies which are blowing over these regions.
