Rainfall In Northeast The northeast today 600

In the last 48 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities occurred over entire Northeast India. These rains were also associated with hailstorm activity in isolated pockets.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Dhubri recorded 20 mm of rain, followed by Gangtok 16 mm, Kalimpong 15 mm, Goalpara 9 mm, Agartala 7 mm, Silchar 7 mm, Pasighat 6 mm and Cherrapunji 5 mm.

These weather activities have occurred due to the presence of an active Western Disturbance moving across the higher latitudes over the Tibet region. Its associated induced cyclonic circulation was also over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining region.

Presently, both the weather systems are moving east/northeastwards slowly. Due to their presence, Arunachal Pradesh will experience light to moderate rain and snow. Meanwhile, rest northeastern states such as Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya will observe light rains in isolated pockets.

The sky conditions are expected to remain cloudy over all the northeastern states. Though, Sikkim and western parts of Assam will also receive light rainfall activity. But weather condition will be improving over both these regions as the day will progress.

Due to clouding and rainfall activity, the day temperatures will be decreasing marginally, and night temperatures will continue to remain above normal.
