Monsoon Rain in Jharkhand

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershowers with heavy showers at isolated places have been seen over Jharkhand. These weather conditions are prevailing due to the presence of the axis of Monsoon Trough which is extending from Rajasthan to Northwest Bay of Bengal across Jharkhand.

In the past 24 hours, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, and Ranchi recorded 11.4 mm, 18.6 mm, and 5.6 mm of rains, respectively.

Simultaneously, a Low-Pressure Area has also formed over the southern parts of Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions. Due to this system, the moist winds from the Bay of Bengal are also affecting the state.

In wake of these weather systems, light to moderate rain and thundershowers will continue at many places of the state. However, the southern parts of Jharkhand will see more rainfall activities as compared to the northern parts of the state. Places like Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Simdega, Gumla, Rampur, Daltonganj, etc will see moderate rain and thundershowers. While places like Pakur, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, and Chatra will receive light rains. These rainfall activities will continue during the next two to three days over the state and will be useful for current cropping systems.
