Rain in Haridwar,Nainital,Jammu, Kullu,Shimla,Srinagar to continue, snowfall likely in upper reaches

After a series of Western Disturbances, a fresh Western Disturbance has once again approached the hills of North India. This system has also induced a cyclonic circulation over parts of Northwest India.

As predicted, during the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities accompanied with isolated snowfall occurred over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir along with few parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Today, the intensity and spread of these weather activities is expected to increase over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. However, Uttarakhand will continue to receive light rain and thundershowers only.

On March 21, many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may receive good rain and thundershowers with few spells of snowfall the higher reaches.

Weather Alert: Rain and thundershowers with strong winds and isolated snowfall are likely over Anantnag, Badgam, Bandipore, Baramulla, Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Dehradun, Garhwal, Haridwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar and Uttarkashi, Doda, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kargil, Kathua, Kishtwar, Kulgam, Bilaspur, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan, Kupwara, Leh(Ladakh), Pulwama, Punch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, Samba, Shupiyan, Srinagar and Udhampur during the next 24 hours.

This 5th Western Disturbance affecting the region, will also be the last for the month of March. In fact, if we calculate from the beginning of January till now a total of 19 Western Disturbances have affected the Western Himalayas.

This unexceptional situation of successive Western Disturbances has also resulted in extended winter season over the northern plains and hills.

Now the intensity of these Western Disturbances will start reducing and will mainly be feeble in nature, which may affect only the upper reaches of the Western Himalayas.
