Rain in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal during next 24 hours

February 9, 2019 12:50 PM |

East India rains

The eastern parts of the country such as Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal as well as Odisha have received widespread rain and thundershower with few moderate spells during the last 24 hours. The reason for these rains can be attributed to the Trough which was extending from foothills of Bihar till Chhattisgarh across Jharkhand.

Talking about figures, Purnea in Bihar has recorded 18 mm of rainfall, followed by Gaya 16.9 mm, Chapra 13.1 mm and Bhagalpur by 11.7 mm. Talking about Jharkhand, Bokaro has recorded 15 mm rainfall followed by 13.2 mm rainfall in Ranchi. In West Bengal, the highest amount of rainfall was recorded over Malda with 8.4 mm in the last 24 hours.

Now, the above Trough is expected to move further in northeast direction. Due to this movement, the rain belt will now shift towards East Bihar, parts of Jharkhand as well as North Bengal. Moreover, isolated places of South Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand might also witness some rain activity during next 24 hours. Thereafter, rains will reduce from entire East India.

Meanwhile, shallow to moderate fog may appear during morning hours over the plains of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. In wake of all these activities, the morning temperatures will drop significantly by 4℃ to 6℃ over the region. Moreover, northwesterly dry and cool winds will  prevail, thereby leading to pleasant day conditions over the region.
