Rain in Patna, Gaya, Ranchi for next 48 hrs; rain deficiency to improve

January 24, 2019 5:58 PM |

These rains would be beneficial for the Rabi crops like wheat, maize, mustard, pulses and gram.

The month of January in terms of precipitation for the eastern states of Bihar and Jharkhand has been on a negative side. However, the rains have knocked the doors of Bihar and it has been raining since past two days. As per the records, January 23 in particular has been rain surplus by 27%. Whereas, Jharkhand still remained dry with a rain deficit of 100%.

In the past 24 hours, most parts of Bihar have been receiving fairly widespread rain and thundershowers.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is marked over southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining parts of Bihar and a trough is seen extending from this system up till Karnataka. Both the weather systems are expected to increase rains over Bihar now. Rain belt would soon  cover parts of Jharkhand by tomorrow.

The western districts of Jharkhand like Daltonganj, Gumla, Ranchi, Chatra, Latehar and Lohardaga would be more prone to these rains. The intermittent rains would continue till January 26 wherein the intensity would be at its peak on January 25 and would start receding January 26 onward.

As per Skymet Weather, it would be a good spell for these two states. We can expect a clear sky January 27 onward.

These rains have already dropped the maximums by 3°C to 4°C and are likely to go down further. Post January 26, the maximums would once again go up. January 27 onward, moderate to dense fog could be seen as the humidity levels would increase.

For good 24 hours, the rains would be surplus and the deficiency of 94% for the state of Bihar might go down and would help in bringing down the deficiency levels.

Looking at the brighter side, these rains seem to be a boon for the farmers since the soil moisture content would go up and would also help in the irrigation facilities. Hailstorm activity with lightning is also a possibility at isolated places but they won’t pose any danger to the Rabi crops like wheat, maize, mustard, pulses and gram.
