The eastern states of the country such as Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal have experienced rain and thundershower, altogether with hailstorm at isolated places in the last few days. The reason for these activities can be attributed to the presence of an active Western Disturbance across the Tibet region and its induced Cyclonic Circulation over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar.
Now as these systems are moving away, the weather activities have decreased over Bihar and northern parts of Jharkhand in the last 24 hours. Further, as these systems completely vacate the eastern states, the weather activities will make a complete exit from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. However, the remnants of these systems over hilly region will continue light rains at isolated places of Sub Himalayan West Bengal during next 24 hours.
In addition to these systems, the presence of an upper air trough along the coastal Odisha will result in light rains at isolated places over East Odisha during next 24 to 36 hours.
Meanwhile, in wake of cold northwesterly air mass, the day temperatures will start increasing gradually while night minimums will start falling. However, the sky conditions will remain mainly clear over the region. Moreover, due to falling minimums and presence of high moisture, shallow to moderate fog will appear over Bihar, North Jharkhand and Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
Further, during the day hours, the moderate cool winds will blow over Bihar during next 24 to 36 hours. In addition to this, bright sunshine during daytime will help crops such as Wheat, Rice, Gram and Peas to grow and nurture at a faster rate.
According to Skymet Weather, this dry and cold weather will persist until February 21. Thereafter, spell of rain and thundershower will once again begin over the eastern states.
