Rain in Madhya Pradesh

This year, the Monsoon is running late than its normal dates over the Indian mainland. The normal dates of onset of Southwest Monsoon over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh is between June 10 and 15. However, as of yesterday, Monsoon has only covered parts of Kerala, parts of Tamil Nadu and parts of Northeast states.

Monsoon is likely to step in over these states around the third week of June in parts of Chhattisgarh. During the last 24 hours, Chhattisgarh saw light dust storm and thundershower activity. Also, scattered rain and thundershowers were experienced with a few moderate spells over Madhya Pradesh.

Significant rainfall activity was observed over Bhopal which received 30 mm of rains, Raisen saw 24 mm, Pachmarhi 24 mm, Damoh 60 mm, Satna 5 mm, Jabalpur 7 mm, Bilaspur 8 mm and Mana received 14 mm of rains.

At present, the rain activity is likely to continue over East Madhya Pradesh with light to moderate spells. West Madhya Pradesh will see scattered light activities. Also, the rainfall activity will enhance further in Chhattisgarh. Here, we expect light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells during the next 24 hours.

At present, plus-40 temperatures are prevailing over the areas at many places with heat wave conditions at isolated pockets. These peaking temperatures are likely to reduce during the next 24 to 48 hours by about three to four degree Celsius. Heat wave conditions may abate from many parts of the area.
