A Western Disturbance is lying over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir as an upper air system. This system is likely to move in the easterly direction. Whereas the Well-Marked Low-Pressure Area now lies over South Haryana and adjoining Rajasthan.

Due to these systems, during the last 24 hours, the hills in the North mainly Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have recorded heavy rains at many places with light to moderate rains being witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir. The experts have to say that these rains are likely to continue with moderate to heavy rains with isolated very heavy spells at many places of Himachal Pradesh. These may even lead to landslide, mudslides, flash flooding over Himachal Pradesh. Even Uttarakhand is likely to witness moderate rains with few heavy spells during the next 24 hours, with chances of flash floods and cloud bursts.

In Jammu, the southern parts like Jammu, Udhampur, Katra will receive moderate rains with isolated heavy spells while northern parts will receive mainly light spells. The rains will reduce after 24 hours in Jammu while moderate spells will continue over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The roads might be blocked especially in Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Mandi and Shimla districts due to moderate to heavy rainfall on August 17 and 18.
