Utah Jazz take on whichever Kings are left standing in Sacramento

Only two more games left of preseason.

Sacramento Kings v Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz are coming back home after a two game preseason road trip. After losing—if you can really quantify preseason win/loss records like they mean anything—two games to Milwaukee and New Orleans, the Utah Jazz finally get to debut their new starting lineup to a home crowd. The Jazz will get to debut Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O’Neale, and Rudy Gobert tonight.

While the Jazz will be debuting that lineup at home, the Kings will be missing as many as six players. Harry Giles, Trevor Ariza, Cory Joseph, Tyler Ulis, Dewayne Dedmond, and Justin James are all listed as day to day and most could be held out just to keep them fresh for the season.

In the Jazz’s last game, the early results from Utah’s rotations was great. Turns out, if Rudy Gobert is out there, the Jazz’s defense and offense is extremely good. If only there were numerous stats and analytics that backed that up. Oh ... there are? Well then.

The Utah Jazz’s starting lineup was a net positive with Mike Conley being the only player who had a negative +/-. The Jazz will most likely be using tonight to test out more game ready rotations to tighten up their bench.

Unfortunately for all of us, this game is not televised which gets into the question why in the hell are NBA preseason games not televised to their local markets? It is ridiculous. So if you get to see this game, good on you.

What to watch for

The starting lineup

From the Mike Conley to Rudy Gobert alley oops, Joe Ingles running point for the bench unit, and Bojan Bogdanovic and Jeff Green hitting threes from the corners, the Utah Jazz lineup looked ready to go on Friday night when they battled the Pelicans. The only reason the Jazz lost the game was Utah pulled its main guys and played their end of bench players. Add in that Donovan Mitchell does his best work in the 4th quarter and Jazz brass have to be excited from the results from the Pelicans game. If you somehow find a feed that is not really legal, that would be something to watch for.

Game Thread Ground Rules

Welcome to the SLC Dunk Game Thread.

Dunkers know how this thing works, but for you lurkers ready to make the jump to Dunker, we have a few guidelines. Remember to follow our community guidelines (no swearing, trolling, excessive use of Jerry Sloan’s name in vain, no personal attacks, no debates about Utah liquor laws, etc.). Remember to have fun. Anyone who dare blasphemes that Tim Duncan was a Power Forward (this means you, Pounding the Rock), Ben Simmons can hit threes, Gordon Hayward should not be booed, Exum Island isn’t a 5-Star resort, Donovan Mitchell is Monta Ellis 2.0, men should never cry, or John Stockton is not the best point guard of all-time will receive an automatic ban. Just kidding. But seriously.
