College Basketball Rankings: Kentucky New No. 1 in AP Poll

Gonzaga stays at No. 8

NCAA Basketball: Eastern Kentucky at Kentucky Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the No. 8 team in the country for the second-consecutive week. Big wins over the likes of Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Alabama State were apparently not enough to warrant movement by the AP voters.

The rest of the top 10 was not so lucky, however, a rather understandable point considering the Champions Classic had all top four squads involved. The Kentucky Wildcats moved up to No. 1, an almost universal top pick except for one voter who picked the Louisville Cardinals as the No. 1 team. Beautiful.

Elsewhere around the rankings relevant to Gonzaga fans, Saint Mary’s overtime win against Wisconsin helped move the Gaels up to No. 18. Future Pac 12 opponents Arizona and Washington sit at No. 19 and No. 20, respectively. The Zags potential Bad Boy Mowers Presents the Battle 4 Atlantis opponents Seton Hall and North Carolina are No. 12 and No. 6, respectively.

Here is the full AP top 25 poll for Week 2.
