Raising Cane’s, a popular fast-food chain that specializes in deep-fried chicken fingers, is coming to Utah.

It will be a new tenant in the Mountain View Business Plaza near 3300 S. 5600 West in West Valley City, property owners announced on social media this week. No word on an opening date.

Founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, La., Raising Cane’s is named after the owner’s yellow Labrador and, in addition to chicken fingers, it serves fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and a pink sauce that looks eerily similar to Utah’s famed fry sauce.

According to the company website, it has more than 490 restaurants in 27 states as well as in Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Emirates.

Loyal fans, called Caniacs, live all over the world — including Utah, given the cheers that went up on Twitter when Mountain View Commercial Real Estate made the announcement.

“Maybe God hasn’t abandoned us,” wrote one person.

Added another: “I’ve never been so happy for anything in my life.”
