Behind the Headlines: Salt Lake City mayoral race heats up

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) The Downtown Alliance hosts a Salt Lake City mayoral debate between Erin Mendenhall, left, and Luz Escamilla at the Regent Street Black Box at Eccles Theater on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

With less than a month to Election Day, the race for Salt Lake City mayor intensifies with debates, endorsements and deeper dives into the issues. Rep. Ben McAdams throws his support behind the Trump impeachment inquiry, accompanied by competing rallies outside his office. And Sen. Mitt Romney and the president clash in a war of words that has included “appalling” and “pompous ass.”

At 9 a.m. on Friday, Salt Lake Tribune reporter Taylor Stevens, government and politics editor Dan Harrie and columnist Robert Gehrke join KCPW guest-host Marcie Young Cancio to talk about the week’s top stories.
