A TAUNTON church is splashing out £450,000 on a major building project.
A new permanent community cafe is going on the front of the existing premises at Wellsprings Community Church.
The place of worship in Quantock Road was formerly known as Wellsprings Chapel.
Some of the inside layout will also be altered, while the kitchen facilities will be upgraded and a new heating system will be installed.
The coast compares to the bill for the construction of the original building in the 1950s, which came to around £4,000.
Sunday morning church services are being held at Wellsprings Primary School during the work.
It is hoped that regular church and community activities will be held in the church in time for Christmas.
