THE operator which runs Vivary Golf Course is working on a plan to get it reopened.

Following the announcement from Boris Johnson on Sunday evening, which stated some sports will be back on the cards - as long as social distancing can be maintained.

Everyone Active, which runs the golf course on behalf of Somerset West and Taunton Council, as well as its other leisure centres in town including Blackbrook and Wellsprings gyms, is discussing with the local authority how it can be done.

Mark Washington, Everyone Active contract manager, said: “Following the Government update, Everyone Active is working with all its local authority partners to outline the approach for the reopening of golf courses.

"This includes ensuring social distancing measures are in place and we have sufficient colleague support to manage them.

"We will inform all customers as soon as possible, once we have a confirmed date for reopening.”
