Bath's newest bar and restaurant, The Botanist, has officially opened and locals have been blown away by how the place looks.
On Friday, we gave Bath Live readers a behind the scenes look at the 8,000 square foot building, which has an entrance from Milsom Place, Green Street and Milsom Street.
Thousands took to social media and the Bath Live Facebook page to express their near-universal approval for The Botanist.
And after a great deal of anticipation and excitement, the place opened its doors to the public on Monday (March 25).
The Botanist's Twitter account gleefully announced the place was open today (March 25).
The tweet read: "B A T H, W E - A R E - O P E N.
"Discover our new botanical haven, situated in The Octagon at Milsom Place, #Bath.
"Our lovely team are ready and waiting to meet you - simply visit http://thebotanist.uk.com/bath to book a table!"
The menu includes everything from steaks and burgers, hand-crafted pies and salads, to The Botanist’s own hanging kebabs, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a Sunday roast menu.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week, with bookings now being taken.
Cocktail lovers can learn from the Botanist’s bartenders with a range of cocktails, craft beers and ales or gin masterclasses on offer.
The menus include: dinner, non-gluten, small plates, dessert, lunch, cocktails and Sunday roast selections.
What people had to say about The Botanist
More than 1,000 people commented on Bath Live's Facebook page alone to share their view on the new venue.
Here are a selection of those comments.
One said that the place looked 'lush' and that she and her friends had to go sometime.
Another said it looked beautiful and that they HAD to book a table there as soon as possible.
One excited person said to her friends to imagine enjoying a cocktail class here for a hen party, before joking that her friend should hurry up and get married.
Many excitingly said that they are booked in to go there already.
Others exclaimed how the place looked 'amazing', 'incredible' and 'fantastic', among other descriptions.
Although one commenter was a bit wary of going, in a jokey way.
They said it looks interesting but hoped they don't get customers identifying the types of plants on display as they would not have a clue about that.
A bit of extra information about the place
The Botanist now has 18 branches across the UK.
The Octagon has a long history in Bath, having been built in 1766 as a private chapel.
It remained in use as a chapel until the late 19th Century, after which it became one of the most well-known antique shops in Europe: Mallet & Sons.
The building has also served as a rations dispensary and air raid warden's building during WWII and a photographic gallery.
The Botanist team has worked closely with local heritage experts to preserve the fabric of this historical building and important Bath landmark, using specialist paints and materials as part of the refurbishment.
The company will be supporting the local Jessie May charity, which provides hospice at home care for terminally ill children in the area.
The Botanist will be open seven days a week: Sunday to Wednesday from noon until midnight, with later opening on Thursday (1am), Fridays and Saturdays (2am).
It is open to the public from Monday (March 25).
From Easter, the restaurant will be serving brunch from 9.30am.
