A pizza, wine and music bar in the heart of Bath has been 'taken possession of'.

Italian restaurant, Piattino, was a popular and well-reviewed place to dine at for many years.

However, a notice can be seen on the shopfront of the George Street restaurant suggesting that the place is shut.

The notice has been issued by Rundles, a debt recovery and bailiff service.

It reads: "We as authorized agents acting on behalf of the landlord have this day peaceably re-entered and taken possession of these premises and the lease is thereby determined.

"Any attempt by you or your agents to enter the demised premises will result in criminal/civil proceedings being taken against you."

Laura Doria, director at The Italian Food Hall next door, said she was very sad to hear about the news.

"It is very sad that they closed. It was a good spot and they were a good neighbour," she said.

"We wish them the best of luck in the future. They were a very talented team as well."

On Tripadvisor, it had a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and it was rated at 138th of 386 restaurants in Bath.

Bath Live has contacted Rundles for comment.
