A Sherborne mum says her children were left in tears after seeing a family in a play area they are not currently allowed in due to coronavirus restrictions.

The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, had already explained to her own children they were not were allowed to use the play area in Ninesprings Park, Yeovil when they visited earlier today (Wednesday, May 27).

But upon walking past, the family spotted another family using the play area - which is not allowed under current guidance.

The mother said: "I was having a walk with my two daughters aged 1 and 2, and I had already told them we couldn't go in the play area when we first got there.

"I explain it every time we go to Ninesprings because they always ask.

"On the way back to our car, we noticed a woman in there with her two children and my daughter just broke down in tears wanting to go and play too.

"I explained that they are naughty and we shouldn't be doing that and her reply was 'can't we be naughty too so we can have fun and play?'"

The mother continued: "Explaining to a toddler why she can't do what someone else is is doing is very hard.

"I took the photos because I was in busy car park and my daughter was crying so I wanted to leave."

The mother explained that she didn't want to risk a confrontation but felt that it was important for everyone to follow the rules.
