A council parking mishap resulted in ‘loads of cars’ being ticketed unfairly in Bath yesterday, (Tuesday March 19).

Penalty charge notices were apparently placed on numerous vehicles for parking in a ‘restricted area’ of the Charlotte Street Car Park in Bath.

However, there was reportedly no indication parking was not allowed.

Twitter user, Gemma Curtis said: “If you got a ticket in Charlotte Street Car Park, Bath today then @bathnes have messed up as no signs to show part of the car park was shut.

“So they ticketed loads of cars and then removed them again because there were no signs. Appeal the ticket.”

Bath and North East Somerset Council has since apologised for the mix-up, and said those affected will not have to pay the fines.

It said: “Sorry for issues in Charlotte St car park.

“If you got a PCN for parking in the restricted area today, it has been automatically cancelled.

“Part of car park will be closed on Wednesday, March 20 to complete the relining and cones are being put out to mark the closed area.”

The relevant parts of the car park have now been properly blocked off and signed.

But if you received a notice there yesterday, it looks like you can safely ignore it.
