One man was taken to hospital after a collision with an electric substation in Weston-super-Mare on Sunday (June 23).

Avon Fire and Rescue Service, as well as police and the ambulance service, responded to the scene of the collision after 2pm.

A photo shared by the fire service on social media appeared to show significant damage to the power station as a result of the collision.

The area appeared to be cordoned off with police tape following the crash.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service confirmed one man was taken to hospital after the incident.

They said: "We were called at 14:39 to reports of a road traffic collision. We attended with an ambulance and a paramedic motorcycle.

"One male patient was taken to hospital for further treatment."

It's unclear whether the collision impacted services in the area.

Western Power Distribution has been contacted for comment.
