These pictures show the inside of a newly-refurbished and opened pub near Radstock, taken over by a veteran publican.

Tina Paradise and her husband Andy Machen have taken over the Faulkland Inn, in Faulkland.

Tina has previously had a hand in dozens of pubs during her career and wants to bring a typical village pub feel back to the place.

The pictures show the newly refurbished bar, dining area and pub garden and Tina is still putting in the work on the three rooms upstairs and other parts of the pub.

The Grade II listed building has operated as a pub since the 1760s and has been closed since April 2017.

Tina says she has had a hand in over 40 pubs across the years in Somerset and Wiltshire and is looking forward to bringing the pub back to its former glory.

She said: "I started in 1988 and my first pub was the King Arms at the end of Silver Street in Yeovil. I then went to the Moorfields in Oldfield Park, then had the Horseshoe in Coombe Down."

She also had a hand in pubs in Pewsey, Swindon, Wales and Bridgwater. After owning several pubs, Tina then went into the hotel business and worked for Travelodge before telling her husband that she wanted another challenge.

She said: "I was made redundant in 2013 and did two house rennovations in Wales and Bristol.

"After this I said to Andy (a golf tour operator), that I think I have another pub in me."

When looking around for pubs to take on, Tina said she 'just got a feeling' when viewing the Faulkland Inn.

She said: "When I came in it was freezing cold but there was something about it. Previously I'd looked at the Greyhound in Midsomer Norton but there was too much work to do."

Tina has already put up a dartboard, a Shove Ha'penny board and is looking to get a cribbage board to bring back the typical village pub feel that she wants to install.

There is a small pub garden at the back of the building

The pub reopened on Wednesday June 5 and, while up until now they've just been selling alcohol, Tina hopes to serve a roast dinner this Sunday (June 23) on her way to serving food throughout the day.

She said: "I also want to go back to doing traditional ‘pub grub’ lunch such as chicken in a basket and sausage and chips, in order to tap into the local daytime trade.

"I’ll keep gastro-pub cuisine for the evening time only. I hope to have the three upstairs letting rooms up and running soon.”
