A Yeovil dental practice has announced plans to close its existing clinic and move to a new site in the town.
Yeovil Dental Clinic, which sits on High Street, intends to move to the building that was once home to Prezzo on Princes Street.
Colosseum Dental, which runs the practice, has applied for planning permission to convert the former Italian restaurant, which shut last year, into a clinic.
Between five and ten new jobs could be created by the move, which could happen as soon as September.
Philip Buergin, CEO of Colosseum Dental in the UK, said: “Our relocation is a significant long-term investment in Yeovil , that will enable the very best in patient care with an outstanding environment, together with full disabled access.
“We are confident that the changes will be received positively by existing and new patients alike."
The practice plans to have five surgery rooms in the new clinic, containing 'the latest state-of-the-art equipment'.
In a letter to council planners, Philip Marsden, associate director of CBRE, the real estate firm acting on behalf of planning agent Dealfield Limited, said: “This could have subsequent positive impacts as it will be seen as a sign of confidence in Yeovil town centre.
“Given the unit is currently vacant, the new occupier will help to create an active frontage and will generate footfall.
“It will therefore assist in maintaining and improving the overall vitality and viability of Yeovil town centre.”
Colosseum Dental runs several other clinics across Somerset and Dorset, with practices in Paulton, Clevedon, Bridport and Blandford Forum.
