Police have appealed for information after a woman was found with a head injury in Weston-super-Mare.

Avon and Somerset Police said the woman was found by officers at 6.15am on Thursday (May 21), nearly 12 hours after she had become separated from a friend outside the Grand Pier.

Police said the woman was wearing a black top, short black skirt, was barefoot, is described as white, in her 50s, and has a South African accent.

The force said she may have appeared "disorientated" but she is now recovering at home.

An Avon and Somerset Police statement reads: "Police are asking for help after a woman was found with a head injury in Weston-super-Mare.



"The woman became separated from her friend and was last seen near Charlie’s Chippy, and soon afterwards in the area outside the Grand Pier, at about 6.20pm on Wednesday, May 20.

"She was found by police officers almost 12 hours later, at 6.15am on Thursday, May 21, in Marchfields Way, with CCTV showing her coming from the Bournville area.

"Officers are now trying to piece together her movements between those times.



"The woman is described as white, in her 50s, with a South African accent.

"She wore a black top, a short black skirt and was barefoot having left her shoes on the beach.

"She may have appeared disoriented or unsteady. She's now recovering at home.
