Here are the details of people convicted at Taunton Magistrates' Court from May 13 onwards.

Magistrates deal with more than 90 per cent of criminal cases including low level offences such as minor assaults and motoring charges.

May 13

James Goodman, 25, of no fixed address, stole meat, cans of Stella, bottles of wine and beer from Tesco Express and breached a suspended prison sentence. He was issued a six month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months. He was ordered to pay a total of £70.77 in compensation.

Leanne Thorne, 34, of Cheddon Lawns, Taunton, jointly with Sarah Bulpin, stole 18 LOL toy ball from Sainsbury's, clothes from Superdry and breached a community order. In a separate case, she stole power tools from B&Q and assaulted a man. She was issued a community order and was ordered to pay costs of £200, £108 fine, £85 victim surcharge and £10.99 in compensation.

Mohammed Ibrar, 33, of Lismore Park, Slough, was caught speeding on the M4 eastbound between junctions 20 and 19. His driving licence was endorsed with three points and he was ordered to pay a £220 fine, £30 victim surcharge and court costs of £625.

Daniel Southcott, 30, of Lindley House, Taunton, assaulted a man and breached a suspended prison sentence and conditional discharge. Magistrates imposed an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 24 months. and he was ordered to pay £100 in compensation and court costs of £100.

May 14

Robert Catleugh, 33, of Open Door, Taunton, stole alcohol from Morrisons and breached a conditional discharge and community order. He was issued a community order and he was ordered to pay £198.50 in compensation and a £50 fine.

Shaun Wellington, 25, of Warner Road, Walsall, was caught in possession of cannabis. He was ordered to pay a £160 fine and a £30 victim surcharge.

Danielle Peatfield, 31, of School Road, Taunton, assaulted a man on two occasions and was caught in possession of cannabis. She was issued a community order and ordered to pay court costs of £50 and a £85 victim surcharge.

David Anthony, 34, of Upper High Street, Taunton, damaged crockery belonging to an individual. He was ordered to pay a £60 fine, £20 in compensation, £20 in court costs and a £10 victim surcharge.

May 15

Jamie Lee, 20, of Icon Way, Dorchester, was caught with a kitchen knife in a public place and damaged a fire riser at Ladysmith House. He was ordered to pay £150 in court costs, a £68 fine, £20 in compensation and a £30 victim surcharge.

Carl Rowley, 32, of Park Close, Street, was banned from driving for 40 months after he was caught drink driving and driving without valid insurance or a licence, failed to stop for police and possessed a lock knife. He was ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Samuel Currow, 19, of Leslie Avenue, Taunton, damaged a wall in Crown Walk shopping centre, a shop window at Gibbons Richards and a window at Subway. He was issued a community order and ordered to pay a total of £307 in compensation, £85 in court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Gigaclear Limited, of Wyndyke Furlong, Abington, pleaded guilty to carrying out works in Wellington in contravention of safety provisions. The company was ordered to pay a total fine of £8,067 and costs of £2,102.17.

British Telecommuncations PLC, of Newgate Street, London, pleaded guilty to carrying out works in Dulverton without the approval of the local authority, carrying out street works in contravention of a direction on safety given by the traffic authority and failing to give appropriate advance notice of the street works.

The company was ordered to pay a total fine of £15,667 and costs of £1,759.17.

A parent from Watchet, who cannot be named for legal reasons, failed to ensure his child regularly attended school. He was ordered to pay a £440 fine, costs of £120 and a £44 victim surcharge.

May 16

Colin Doble, 51, of Mount Street, Taunton, stole £800 from The Daily Needs store. Magistrates imposed a eight-week prison sentence and he was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Sean Evans, 31, of Ty Cerrig, Carauan, was caught with a bladed article in a public place. He was issued a community order and was ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Harry Ward, 32, of Periton Way, Minehead, was banned from driving for 12 months after he was caught driving without a driving licence on the A39. He was ordered to pay a £207 fine, £30 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Dominic Beales, 44, of Hockley Farm Road, Leicester, stole candles from Wilkinsons. He was ordered to pay a £80 fine and £30 victim surcharge.

Ben Hussell, 27, of Station Road, Henbury, pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour in a public place, namely Diamond Farm Camping Park in Brean. He was ordered to pay a £146 fine, court costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Wesley Kierle, 41, of East Reach, Taunton, stole hair straighteners and whisky from Boots and Marks and Spencer. He was ordered to pay £48 in compensation.

Macauley Meade, 23, of Church Street, Bridgwater, assaulted an individual and caused actual bodily harm. He was ordered to pay a £184 fine, £100 in compensation and £30 victim surcharge.

James Redwood, 44, of Longacre Close, Taunton, was caught with a butterknife in a public place. He was issued a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

George Whyte, 47, of Travelodge, Bridgwater Services, visited McDonald's on East Reach and a mapped area of Taunton despite being prohibited from doing so. He was ordered to pay a total fine of £80 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Nathan Gulley, 28, of Penny Close, Wellington, was banned from driving for 12 months after he was caught drink driving. He was ordered to pay a £500 fine, £50 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Ben Mortimore, 32, of Beechwood, Bridgwater, was banned from driving for 20 months after he was caught drink driving and failed to stop at the scene of a collision. He was issued a community order and ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Ellessey Perry-Wilinson, 21, of Wembdon Road, Bridgwater, was banned from driving for 20 months after she was caught drink driving. He was ordered to pay a £354 fine, £35 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Anthony Walton, 28, of Claremont Road, Folkestone, was caught drink driving and failed to co-operate with a drug swipe test. His driving licence was endorsed with 10 points and he was ordered to pay a £507 fine, £50 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.

Jake Weber, 22, of Magnolia House, Burnham-on-Sea, breached a community order. He was fined £80.
