Here are the details of people convicted at Taunton Magistrates' Court from May 31 onwards.

Magistrates deal with more than 90 per cent of criminal cases including low-level offences such as assaults and motoring charges.

May 31

Michael Davis, 36, Stonegallows, Taunton, breached a conditional discharge and stole beauty products from Boots. He was ordered to pay a compensation of £260.

Sandra Graham, 54, of Appledore, Bridgwater, was caught speeding on the M5 northbound between junctions 16 and 17. Her driving licence was endorsed with three points and he was ordered to pay a £100 fine, £30 victim surcharge and costs of £85.

Michael Roberts, 44, of The Maltings, Worle, failed to comply with supervision requirements, stole a hand bag and its contents jointly with Dean Jones, stole items from Waitrose on two occasions and failed to surrender to custody at North Somerset Magistrates Court on two occasions. He was sentenced to prison for 91 days and ordered to pay a total of £255 in compensation.

Lee Johnston, 43, of Church Street, Highbridge, stole items from Co-op, Tesco, Morrisons and Asda, failed to provide a sample and failed to surrender to custody at Taunton Magistrates' Court. He was ordered to pay a £85 victim surcharge.

June 3

Simon Thresher, 43, of Greenlands, Taunton, admitted breaching a community order. He was ordered to pay a £200 fine and costs of £75.

June 5

Andrew Walsh, 32, of East Reach, Taunton, stole items from T K Maxx and Tesco and failed to surrender to custody.  He was issued a community order and ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

David Bailey, 37, of no fixed address, failed to pay for diesel in Yeovil and Shepton Mallet and fuel in Somerton as well as driving without insurance and while disqualified. He was sentenced to prison for 20 weeks.

Chelsea Bartlett, 28, of Mill Lane, Bishop's Lydeard, was caught driving without valid insurance, drove a vehicle without due care or attention and failed to stop following a collision. Her driving licence was endorsed with six points and he was ordered to pay a total fine of £820, compensation of £300 and a £41 victim surcharge.

A parent from Taunton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, failed to ensure his child regularly attended school. He was ordered to pay a £40 fine, costs of £60 and a £30 victim surcharge.

A parent from Bridgwater, who cannot be named for legal reasons, failed to ensure his child regularly attended school. He was ordered to pay a £40 fine, costs of £60 and a £30 victim surcharge.

A parent from Cheddar, who cannot be named for legal reasons, failed to ensure her child regularly attended school. She was ordered to pay a £40 fine, costs of £60 and a £30 victim surcharge.

A parent from Bridgwater, who cannot be named for legal reasons, failed to ensure her child regularly attended school. She was ordered to pay a £220 fine, costs of £90 and a £30 victim surcharge.

June 6

Joanne Ault, 39, of Hillside Crescent, Puriton, was caught drink driving in Brean. She was banned from driving for 20 months and also ordered to pay a fine of £250, court costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Thomas Parsons, 18, of Church Road, Enmore, failed to stop after he injured a person with his car. He was banned from driving for six months, issued a community order and also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £85 victim surcharge.

Chantelle Perry, 26, of Cheddon Road, Taunton, damaged the windscreen of a car. She was issued a 12-month conditional discharge and she was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

Tracey Stone, 51, of Snake Lane, Wedmore, was caught drink driving and was banned from driving for 23 months. She was also issued a community order.

Ian Sephton, 48, of Sycamore Road, Minehead, stole electrical items and food from Tesco in Minehead on two ocassions. He was issued a 12-month conditional discharge and he was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Trevor Edwards, 46, of Greenway Road, Taunton, was caught driving without valid insurance and while banned from driving. He received a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was banned from driving for a further 12 months and he was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £115 victim surcharge.

James Hyam, 27, of YMCA Bridgwater, Bridgwater, breached a criminal behaviour order by sitting without reasonable excuse in East Street, Street Record in Magdalene Lane on three occasions in Taunton and breached a conditional discharge. He was fined a total of £90 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

Jason Mountain, 29, of Outer Circle, Taunton, pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour in a public place. He was ordered to pay a £50 fine and a £30 victim surcharge.

Stephen Williams, 40, of Webbers Way, Puriton, was caught drink driving at junction 24 of the M5. He was banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay a £750 fine, court costs of £85 and a £75 victim surcharge.

Woody Spencer, 29, of Union Street, Cheddar, damaged a large reinforced window at Tesco. He was ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation and £85 in court costs.

Keith Adams, 41, of East Reach, Taunton, jointly with Leihan Dawe, stole items from Wilko in Bridgwater and Homesense in Taunton. He received a four-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay compensation of £85 and a £40 victim surcharge.

Benhamin Douce-Burridge, 30, of Normandy Drive, Taunton, stole a scooter. He was issued a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £85, £40 in compensation and a £30 victim surcharge.

Leihan Dawe, 32, of East Reach, Taunton, stole a range of items from Go Outdoors, Lidl, Sainsburys, Tesco, Wilko, Homesense, T K Max and JD Sports, assisted in the handling of stolen goods, namely sunglasses from Specsavers. She also assaulted four people, drove a vehicle without a driving licence or insurance and breached community orders. She was sentenced to serve a six-month prison sentence and ordered to pay £60 in compensation.
