A week of roadworks are set to take place on a major route into Yeovil later this month.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place in both directions along Lysander Road, opposite Morrisons, between Monday, May 18 and Friday, May 22 while Somerset County Council installs underground electric cables on the road.

The work will take place overnight, between 7pm and 7am, meaning that essential journeys amid the coronavirus pandemic should not be affected during the day.

It is understood that the work will take place in order to allow for a new electric car charging supply to be installed at Morrisons.

Lysander Road acts as a key route into Yeovil town centre, especially for traffic heading into the town from the Cartgate Link Road on the A3088.

Anyone making vital journeys into the town during the evening or early in the morning is therefore warned to expect disruption as a result of the work.
