Terry Skiverton is now in the betting to become the next permanent Yeovil Town manager.

The club legend - who has previously been manager amongst numerous other roles - has come from nowhere in the betting to be 8/1 third favourite with Skybet.

Either big money has come in for the 43-year-old or the bookies have heard whispers he is in the running.

Skiverton played more than 300 times for Yeovil before retiring in 2010. As well as managing the club between 2009 and 2012, he has also been caretaker manager, assistant manager and is currently in charge of the academy.

As previously reported, a sale of the club to a consortium has been agreed pending ratification, but the new owners want to remain anonymous for now.

They are interviewing managerial candidates early this week. The start of the Vanarama National League is less than seven weeks away and Yeovil only have 13 players signed up, so time is of the essence to build a squad and get pre-season training under way.

Bath City manager Jerry Gill is still the clear favourite for the job, although he is currently sorting out contracts and recruitments with the Romans, who made the play-offs in National League South last season.

He's 1/4 with Skybet, followed by Hull City coach Tony Pennock at 5/1. Darren Way, who was sacked in March, is at 20/1 to come back and Neale Marmon, the interim manager who left at the beginning of May, is at 22/1.

The Glovers are aiming to announce their new boss some time this week.
