A new Costa drive-thru could be coming to an M5 service station.

Roadchef Motorways Ltd has submitted two separate planning applications seeking to open a store at the Taunton Deane Motorway Services between junctions 25 and 26.

The first application seeks approval to build a "drive through catering unit with associated roadways" while the second has asked for advertisement consent to display new signage on the store front.

If the applications are successful, the new branch, along with six illuminated signs, will be built on an eastern section of the northbound services.

The design appears to follow a typical Costa drive-thru store with an order point, menu signage and a collection kiosk.

No indoor or outdoor seating can be seen in the plans.

The northbound services currently has a Costa branch based next to McDonald's. It is unknown what will happen to the existing store.

The applications are a part of Costa's plans to expand its stores in Somerset, with new branches set to open in Bridgwater and Wellington.

Views are welcome from the public until Friday, June 28. A decision will be made by Somerset West and Taunton Council on Monday, July 8.
