SANTA has sent out an urgent plea to Gwent elves to spread some Christmas magic and cheer this year.

Elves of all sizes are being encouraged to find their flashiest festive clothes to take part in an Elf Walk and Run in aid of Newport-based St David’s Hospice Care.

The Elf Walk and Run, sponsored by Western Power Distribution (WPD), will take place on November 24, at Llanyrafon Manor and North and South Fields, in Cwmbran.

This popular event is supported by Llanyrafon Manor, Lylac Ridge Farm, Risca, and Marble the reindeer.

Karen Welch, from WPD, gathered with Marble the reindeer and other festive fun lovers at Lylac Ridge Farm, for a practice run to help launch this year’s event.

Ms Welch said: “As long-standing supporters of St David’s Hospice Care, we were delighted be invited to sponsor the Elf Walk and Run. We know it will help to raise vital funds for the charity in a fun and enjoyable way.

“St David’s Hospice Care is a fantastic charity and I would encourage local people and businesses to get behind this event and help raise a bumper amount of money to support the fantastic work that they do seven days a week, 365 days a year though out our community.”

Elves can register at 10am, at Llanyrafon Manor, with the Walk/Run – which starts and ends at the Manor – starting at 11am. Children taking part can bring their letter to Santa to place in a special letter box.

The day will start with singing, refreshments, and glitter, with the option of a 1.6km or a 7km route.

Adults are £10, under 16s are £5, with free entry for children under the age of three. Alternatively, a family deal for two adults and two children is £25.
